France sees Bangladesh as an attractive investment destination

Diplomatic Desk:

Today, Thursday (May 7), French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet met with Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir at the Secretariat.

In the meeting, both sides discussed in detail various issues related to developing a business-friendly environment, expanding investment, developing infrastructure, facilitating trade and strengthening long-term partnerships.

Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said that the current government is implementing a series of reform programs to create an investment-friendly and competitive economic environment.

He said, “To simplify the process of starting and running a business, the government has taken initiatives to reduce administrative complexity, digitize the approval process and make services faster and more effective.”

He also said that the government is giving special importance to improving the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ for foreign investors. To this end, work is underway to make the business registration, approval and service delivery process easier and more timely.

The French Ambassador said that Bangladesh is a country with significant economic potential in South Asia. Due to industrialization, infrastructure development and a large consumer market, Bangladesh is being considered an attractive destination for international investors. He expressed interest in expanding French investment in Bangladesh and welcomed the initiative to make the business environment easier and more efficient.

Secretary (Routine Responsibilities) of the Ministry of Commerce Md. Abdur Rahim Khan was present at the event.
