Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has urged Chinese companies to invest and expand their value chains in the country, highlighting Bangladesh as a business-friendly and investment-ready potential destination.

He made the call as the chief guest at a seminar titled ‘Invest Bangladesh’ organized by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) at the Diaoyutai Hotel in Beijing, China, on Thursday (June 25, 2026). The seminar, held at 10:30 am local time, was attended by 125 Chinese businessmen and investors.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said, “Bangladesh is open for business, ready for the future and eager to build a deeper industrial and economic partnership with China.” He urged Chinese entrepreneurs to seize new investment opportunities in Bangladesh.

He said the government is implementing a 180-day action plan to attract international investment and ease the process of doing business. Under this action plan, steps have been taken to reduce bureaucratic complexity, digitize government services, ensure policy consistency, and strengthen the investment-friendly environment.
The Prime Minister also said that the government is working to expand special economic zones for Chinese investors. The establishment of a Chinese economic and industrial zone in Anwara and a second economic zone in Mongla is underway. In addition, Bangladesh’s first ‘investment office’ in China will soon be launched to facilitate the provision of services to Chinese investors.
At the seminar, BIDA Executive Chairman Ashiq Chowdhury presented a presentation highlighting Bangladesh’s investment potential, infrastructure development, and investment opportunities in various sectors. He also shed light on the government’s various incentives and benefits for foreign investors.
Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit, Prime Minister’s Finance Advisor Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir, and Education, Primary and Mass Education, Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment and Labor and Employment Advisor Mahdi Amin were also present. In addition, the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon and other relevant officials were present.
