Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, SBP, OSP, SGP, PSC, returned home on Saturday (October 17, 2026) following official visits to Australia and the United States.
During the first leg of his tour, the Army Chief participated in ‘The Chief of Army Symposium and Land Forces International Defence Exposition 2026’ held in Perth, Australia. While there, he visited Deakin University in Melbourne, where he held discussions on expanding mutual cooperation in education and research, as well as fostering academic exchange programs, between the university and Bangladesh’s Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST). Subsequently, the Army Chief attended the ‘Association of the US Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting and Exposition’ held in Washington, D.C., United States.
Throughout his visit, the Army Chief held courtesy meetings and exchanged views with key defense officials from both Australia and the United States. He also visited various military installations in both countries. It is expected that this visit will further strengthen the existing professional ties, mutual cooperation, training initiatives, and the exchange of expertise between the Bangladesh Army and the armies of Australia and the United States—including the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC).
