Desk Report:
On Friday (October 16, 2026), at 11:00 AM, the Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP, attended an event at the Bakshiganj Upazila Parishad conference hall in Jamalpur district as the chief guest. The event was organized to mark several initiatives, including the distribution of government aid and fire extinguishers to Puja Mandaps; the inauguration of the ‘Tree Fair 2026’ and the distribution of saplings; the disbursement of financial grants from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund to the needy and the poor; the distribution of corrugated iron (CI) sheets and financial aid to families affected by various disasters; and the provision of financial support to business owners impacted by fire incidents.

In his address as the chief guest, the Minister stated that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) pursues a political agenda aimed at ensuring the well-being of the general public. Under the leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister, Mr. Tareque Rahman, the current government is working tirelessly to overcome the nation’s gas and electricity crises. However, given the ongoing global conflicts, he urged the public to exercise patience. “We have a population of 200 million, which means 400 million hands. If these 400 million hands work for the nation, the country will soon reach the pinnacle of development,” he remarked.

Addressing the media personnel present, the Minister noted that certain banned groups are currently engaged in spreading misinformation against the government via social media. He called upon media professionals to step forward and counter such misinformation to safeguard the government’s image, emphasizing their responsibility to the nation to disseminate objective and accurate news.

The Minister further mentioned that the current government enjoys significant international support. During a visit to the United States, Prime Minister Mr. Tareque Rahman met with President Donald Trump, who highly praised Bangladesh’s garment sector.
Addressing the government officials in attendance, the Minister stressed that politicians and civil servants must work in tandem to maintain law and order, especially with the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja festival. He reiterated that a ‘zero-tolerance’ policy toward drugs will remain in effect. Adolescents should be encouraged to engage in sports and outdoor activities alongside their studies. Awareness must be raised regarding the dangers of drug abuse.
Concluding his remarks, the Minister sought the blessings of those present for the country’s continued progress and development. Earlier, he inaugurated the ‘Tree Fair 2026’ held on the premises of the Bakshiganj Upazila Parishad, where he also planted a tree.
Government officials from various departments of Bakshiganj Upazila, as well as local leaders of the BNP, were present at the event.
