Pakistan High Commission celebrates Independence Day in Dhaka

Diplomatic Desk:

Pakistan’s Independence Day was celebrated with due dignity and enthusiasm at the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider hoisted the national flag of Pakistan at a ceremony organized on Friday (August 14) morning. The national anthem was played at the ceremony.

A large number of Pakistani citizens living in Bangladesh, Bangladeshi friends and well-wishers, students, journalists and representatives of civil society were present at the ceremony.

The Independence Day messages of Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar were read out at the ceremony.

In the message, the leadership of Pakistan extended heartfelt greetings to all Pakistanis living in the country and abroad on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day. At the same time, deep respect was paid to the Father of the Nation of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Muhammad Iqbal and the dedicated workers of the Pakistan Movement. It was mentioned that Pakistan was established as a result of their sacrifice, foresight and unwavering commitment.

After independence, Pakistan’s achievements in various fields including education, science and technology, sports and defense were highlighted and emphasis was placed on following the principles of ‘unity, faith and discipline’ – Quaid-e-Azam – in achieving the country’s development goals and realizing the dreams of the nation’s founders.

Deep respect was also paid to the sacrifices of the members of the Pakistan Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies in the war against terrorism. Referring to the success of ‘Operation Marak-e-Haq’ against India, the strong commitment to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty and geographical integrity was reiterated.

In addition, it was announced that Pakistan will continue its role in establishing regional peace, prosperity and security.

At this time, Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir was reiterated. Pakistan’s commitment to resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in light of the UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the people of Kashmir was also reiterated.

Concern was also expressed at the event about the terrorist acts committed against Pakistan and neighboring countries from the soil of Afghanistan.

On the occasion of Independence Day, the Pakistan High Commission organized an essay competition titled ‘Historical Sites in Pakistan’ with the participation of Bangladeshi students. Prizes and certificates were distributed among the students participating in the competition at the event.

Finally, the Independence Day program ended with a special prayer for peace, progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
