A very detailed and positive discussion was held with US business representatives on the cooperation of the US private sector to increase foreign investment, create new jobs and further accelerate economic progress in Bangladesh, said Mahdi Amin, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Today, Thursday (August 13, 2026), Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a meeting with a high-level delegation of 50 members of the US-Bangladesh Business Council at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Bangladesh Secretariat. Mahdi Amin made these remarks at a press briefing after the meeting.
He said that the meeting discussed various aspects of expanding US investment in Bangladesh, creating new jobs and further strengthening the long-standing commercial relations between the two countries. In particular, emphasis was placed on attracting more investment from the US private sector by utilizing the economic potential of Bangladesh.
Mahdi Amin said that the government is hopeful that the visit of the top US business leaders will strengthen and strengthen the economic ties between Bangladesh and the US.
“We firmly believe that through this successful meeting with the Prime Minister, we will take another step towards our dream of building a self-reliant and prosperous Bangladesh,” he said.
A spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office said that 50 high-ranking businessmen and executives representing 25 top US companies participated in the delegation. The delegation was led by Oliver Simpson, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Accelerate Energy, and Ambassador (retd) Atul Keshop, President of the US-Bangladesh Business Council and Senior Vice President for South Asia at the US Chamber of Commerce.
The 25 US organizations in the delegation are: US-Bangladesh Business Council, US Chamber of Commerce, Accelerate Energy, Chevron, Meta (Facebook), Visa, US Soybean Export Council, MetLife, Boeing, Uber, Asia Group, APR Energy, Venva, VF Corporation, Corteva Agriscience, Salesforce, Ulka Semi, Pathao, Cisco, Abbott, MetroTac, HSBC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Anchorless and Drinkwell.
The meeting was attended by Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Industries Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Prime Minister’s Advisor on Finance and Planning Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit, Prime Minister’s Advisor and Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson Mahdi Amin and Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir were present.
In addition, Prime Minister’s Advisor on Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology and Science and Technology Rehan Asif Asad, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Ashiq Chowdhury, Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon, Prime Minister’s Private Secretary-2 Md. Mehedul Islam and Deputy Press Secretary-1 Zahidul Islam Rony were present at the meeting.
