Desk Report:
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that while the current elected government is in charge of running the country, private teachers will no longer have to go from office to office to receive retirement benefits.

He said that the money due to teachers will be delivered to their bank accounts online on time without any kind of suffering and harassment by middlemen.

The Prime Minister made these remarks as the chief guest after inaugurating the ceremony to pay retirement and welfare benefits to private teachers and employees at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Saturday (August 15, 2026) morning.
The government has allocated a one-time amount of Tk 2,358.6 crore to pay long-standing outstanding retirement and welfare benefits. This money is being sent to the respective bank accounts of the concerned teachers and employees in 64 districts of the country.

The Prime Minister said that through today’s exceptional program, 70,119 retired teachers of private schools, colleges and madrasas of the country have received back a part of the money deposited in two government funds after 2022, that is, after a long four years.

As a result, the uncertainty in the lives of teachers who have been waiting for retirement benefits for a long time has been removed to some extent.
The Prime Minister said that the government will take more effective and modern measures for the welfare of teachers in the future. Emphasis will be placed on making the entire process of providing retirement and welfare benefits easier, transparent and digital.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon, Prime Minister’s Educational Advisor and Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson Mahdi Amin, Education Secretary Abdul Khaleq and other senior officials concerned were present at the program.
