Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Gani said, there are many problems in the aviation sector of our country. One of them is the increase in ticket prices. However, the General Sales Agents (GSAs) of various airlines are not unilaterally responsible for this. That is why we have discussed with them how to solve these problems. Through this, efforts are being made to bring our air ticket prices at par with other countries.
The Senior Secretary said these things while briefing journalists before the hearing of the inquiry committee on the abnormal increase in air ticket prices and taking action against black marketers at the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday (February 19, 2025) evening.
The Senior Secretary said, the air ticket prices of those who go to the Middle East from our country are very high. In this whole process, we have some rules and regulations. Some of them are being followed and some are not. In some cases, there is corruption by some people. We are sitting down to investigate this. He said, I want to know the experiences of the General Sales Agents (GSAs) of various airlines. I want to understand how to overcome them by listening to them. In short, this effort is to make our research useful to people.
Nasimul Gani said, We are not going to fix the fare of air tickets. We are just investigating. I have been given this responsibility by the Office of the Chief Advisor. That is why today’s meeting.
