Indian Ambassador emphasizes strengthening Bangladesh-India energy relations

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Prannoy Verma paid a courtesy call on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmud. The meeting was held at the Minister’s office at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Wednesday (March 11, 2026).

It is reported that during the meeting, the existing cooperation between Bangladesh and India in the power and energy sectors and various aspects of further expanding it in the future were discussed.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit and Secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Department Mohammad Saiful Islam were present at the time.

The discussion emphasized further strengthening cooperation in the energy sector in the mutual interests of the two countries.
