Sri Lanka Convention Bureau Hosts 8-Member Delegation from Bangladesh to Promote MICE Tourism

The Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB), in collaboration with the Sri Lanka High Commission in Bangladesh, hosted an eight-member delegation of travel agents from the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) from June 23 to 28, 2025. This initiative was part of ongoing efforts to promote Sri Lanka as a premier destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE).

During their visit, the Bangladeshi delegation toured key tourist attractions and MICE-ready locations across Negombo, Galle, Bentota, and Colombo. The familiarization programme provided first-hand insights into Sri Lanka’s diverse offerings in both leisure and business tourism.

A highlight of the visit was the B2B (Business-to-Business) networking event held on June 27, 2025, in Colombo. The event brought together 25 Sri Lankan tour operators and industry stakeholders, creating a dynamic platform for dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of best practices in tourism promotion.

Bangladesh remains a key emerging market in the South Asian region, bolstered by direct air connectivity and short travel time. As of May 31, 2025, Sri Lanka recorded 32,346 tourist arrivals from Bangladesh, placing it among the top 10 source markets for the year.

This initiative underscores the strategic importance of strengthening regional partnerships and enhancing Sri Lanka’s positioning as a competitive MICE destination.
