The High Commissioner of Canada to Bangladesh, Ajit Singh, has welcomed the new Resident Representative and Country Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Bangladesh, Koko Ushiyama.
In a recent courtesy call, High Commissioner Ajit Singh congratulated Koko Ushiyama on assuming her new responsibilities in Bangladesh. During the meeting, various aspects of WFP’s activities in Bangladesh and future cooperation were discussed.
Canada and the World Food Programme have a long-standing partnership. Canada has been a major donor to WFP in supporting vulnerable and vulnerable populations in different parts of the world. Canada has also made a significant contribution to WFP’s humanitarian work in Bangladesh, especially in Cox’s Bazar, to address the Rohingya crisis.
The High Commissioner of Canada said that Canada is eager to work closely with Koko Ushiyama and the WFP team under her leadership to ensure a better and safer future for the people of Bangladesh and other countries around the world.
