President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir welcomed Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka early Wednesday (August 26, 2026).
A special plane carrying the Bhutanese King stopped at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on its way from Singapore to Bhutan early Wednesday. During this time, President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir paid a courtesy call on the Bhutanese King at the VVIP lounge of the airport.
During the meeting, cordial discussions were held on various issues of mutual interest between the two countries. During this time, President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir invited Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and members of the royal family to pay a state visit to Bangladesh at a convenient time.
In response, the King of Bhutan invited the President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh to visit Bhutan at their convenience.
During the meeting, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on assuming office as President.
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir conveyed warm greetings to the King and members of the Royal Family of Bhutan on behalf of the people and government of Bangladesh.
