No opportunity for revenue evasion of government land: State Minister for Land

State Minister for Land Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin has said that no opportunity will be given for revenue evasion of even an inch of government land. The main goal of the government is to increase government revenue and restore government land. From now on, illegal encroachers will not be given any more opportunities on government land.

The State Minister said this at an information meeting on tea garden management and Guchchagram Project-3 at the ministry’s office on Thursday (April 23, 2026).

Habiganj District Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md. Abul Hashem presented detailed information on the tea gardens of Habiganj district in the meeting.

Regarding tea garden management, the State Minister directed the concerned officials to provide accurate information on tea cultivable and unsuitable land and other used and unused land out of a total of 2 lakh 82 thousand 346 acres of land in 166 tea gardens across the country.

The State Minister said that the tea gardens that have not paid any revenue to the government for the past 13 years should be investigated. He instructed the concerned to quickly identify the institutions that have not paid the government’s dues illegally and take measures to collect revenue from them.

Later, the State Minister was informed about the progress of ‘Guchhagram Project-3’. It was informed in the meeting that this project will be presented to the ECNEC meeting very soon with the aim of rehabilitating 20,000 landless families at a cost of about 763 crore taka.

Under the project, houses will be constructed in separate models for the plain, coastal and hilly regions. The State Minister instructed to keep an eye on the implementation of this project so that the real beneficiaries are not deprived.

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Land Md. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury, Joint Secretary Zahirul Islam, Deputy Secretary Md. Shafiqul Islam and other concerned officials were present in the meeting.
