State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the players, coaches and officials of the Bangladesh U-20 youth football team for winning the SAFF U-20 Football Tournament final in Male, Maldives on Friday (April 3, 2026) by defeating India 4-3 in a trybreaker to become champions.
In his congratulatory message, the State Minister said, the indomitable passion and skill that our youth footballers have displayed today is a matter of great pride for the entire nation. Winning the title by defeating India has opened a new horizon for Bangladeshi football. He commented that this fighting mentality on the field will make us dream of greater success in the future.
The State Minister announced a special financial reward for the Bangladesh Under-20 football team in recognition of the players’ outstanding achievements. He expressed hope that this patronage and encouragement from the government will inspire the young players to play better in the coming days.
The State Minister also said that the current government is committed to improving the quality of sports in the country. He mentioned that the government will take all necessary steps to bring out talented footballers from the grassroots level.
