Sarah Cooke, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The meeting took place on Sunday (October 4, 2026) at the Prime Minister’s office within the Cabinet Division at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
During the meeting, they discussed various aspects of the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom. The Prime Minister and the British High Commissioner also exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.
Emphasis was placed on further strengthening and diversifying the historic and friendly ties between Bangladesh and the UK. Both sides expressed optimism about elevating the long-standing friendly relationship between the two nations to new heights in the future.
Discussions also covered the UK’s continued support for Bangladesh’s economic development and progress. Additionally, they exchanged views on the potential for further expanding trade and investment between the two countries.
Importance was placed on broadening existing areas of cooperation and creating opportunities for collaboration in new sectors of mutual interest.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke expressed their commitment to continued mutual cooperation to further advance the Bangladesh-UK relationship.
Bangladesh’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Humayun Kabir, along with other relevant senior officials, was present during the meeting.
