Ghanashyam Bhandari, Nepal’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, has emphasized the need to expand cooperation across various sectors—including physical connectivity, trade and investment, energy security, and power trade—to further strengthen bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Nepal.
He highlighted various aspects of the Bangladesh-Nepal relationship while speaking at the ‘Diplomatic Lens’ session of the ongoing ‘Bay of Bengal Conversation-2026’ in Dhaka on Saturday (October 3, 2026).

In his address, Ambassador Bhandari traced the evolution of bilateral ties between the two nations and shed light on opportunities to further broaden and deepen their cooperation in the future.
He noted that physical connectivity, trade and investment, energy security and power trade, people-to-people contact, technology, regional and multilateral cooperation, and climate change are considered key areas for collaboration between Bangladesh and Nepal.
The Ambassador stated that sustained efforts in these areas could make mutual cooperation between the two countries deeper and more effective. He specifically mentioned that regional connectivity and energy cooperation could play a pivotal role in advancing the relationship between Bangladesh and Nepal.
During the session, he discussed the existing dimensions of the Bangladesh-Nepal relationship and the potential for future cooperation.
The ‘Bay of Bengal Conversation-2026’ is being organized by the Centre for Governance Studies (CGS) in Dhaka from October 3 to 5. Policymakers, diplomats, experts, and relevant stakeholders are exchanging views on various critical issues concerning the Bay of Bengal region, including diplomacy, regional cooperation, the economy, security, and climate change.
