Saudi Arabia has invited 30 Bangladeshi citizens from various professions and walks of life to perform the holy Umrah pilgrimage under the special program of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
To mark the occasion, a farewell ceremony was held on Sunday (October 4, 2026) at the Saudi Embassy in Dhaka in honor of the invitees. Best wishes were extended to the guests prior to their departure for Saudi Arabia to perform the holy Umrah.
Dr. Abdullah Zafar H. Bin Abiyah, the Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh, addressed the event. He highlighted the significance of King Salman’s Umrah program and spoke of the long-standing fraternal ties between Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh.
Officials from the embassy, including Abdullah Al-Harbi, Head of the Consular Section, and Yousef Al-Ahmad, Head of the Islamic Affairs Section, were present at the event. The program was conducted and moderated by Yasser Sheshah, Director of the Political and Media Affairs Section.
The 30 invited Bangladeshis include government officials, academicians, Hafiz (memorizers) of the Holy Quran, and individuals from diverse professional and socio-cultural backgrounds.
Under this program, sponsored by King Salman, the invitees will perform Umrah as honored guests of Saudi Arabia and will also have the opportunity to visit the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah Al-Munawwarah.
The Saudi government will provide necessary arrangements and services to ensure a comfortable and dignified journey for the invitees, allowing them to experience the spiritual significance of these holy sites.
This invitation from Saudi Arabia is viewed as a reflection of the deep-rooted friendly relations, mutual respect, religious bonds, and fraternal ties between the peoples of the two nations. The King Salman Umrah Program is a key initiative by Saudi Arabia aimed at enabling Muslims from around the world to perform the sacred Umrah pilgrimage. It operates as part of a broader effort to serve pilgrims and visitors to the Two Holy Mosques and to enhance their overall experience.
Under the directives of King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, relevant Saudi authorities place special emphasis on the care and service provided to Umrah pilgrims and visitors to the Two Holy Mosques.
The invitation extended to 30 Bangladeshi citizens under this program is viewed as a friendly gesture by Saudi Arabia to further strengthen people-to-people ties, cultural exchange, and religious bonds between the two nations.
At the farewell ceremony, the Saudi Embassy extended its best wishes to the invitees for a safe journey and a successful Umrah pilgrimage. Prayers were also offered that Almighty Allah might accept their Umrah and bless their sacred journey.
