Protesting NBR officials withdraw ‘shutdown’ program

The protesting National Board of Revenue (NBR) Reform Unity Council has withdrawn its ‘shutdown’ program.

On Sunday (June 29, 2025) night, Hasan Mohammad Tarek Rikabder, president of the protesting NBR Reform Unity Council, officially announced the withdrawal of the program after a meeting with business leaders at the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) office in Tejgaon in the capital.

He said, ‘We have withdrawn the protest program considering the overall situation of the country, including trade and commerce.’

The meeting at the BCI office in Tejgaon was attended by top business leaders of the country, including BCI President Anwar-ul-Alam Chowdhury Parvez, former FBCCI President Mir Nasir Hossain, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan, and Square Pharmaceuticals Managing Director Tapan Chowdhury.
