First Artificial Intelligence-based Platform for Bengali Language Launched

The first Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology-based platform for Bengali language, ‘Kagoj.ai’, has been launched. At the same time, a new Bengali font ‘Julai’ has been unveiled.

Today, Monday (December 15, 2025), these two technologies were officially inaugurated by Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, Special Assistant to the Principal Advisor in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, at a function organized by the Information and Communication Technology Division at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital. The function was presided over by Shish Haider Chowdhury, NDC, Secretary of the Information and Communication Technology Division.

Speaking as the chief guest, Faiz Ahmed Tayyab said that 4,000 people have used it experimentally in the last 2 weeks. They have got good results. Its API is being opened to make the Bengali language open to everyone. The source code will also be opened to ensure cyber security. To preserve the local cultural flow of the language, 10,000 oral minutes of each ethnic group will soon be collected. Bangla LML will be created. If we can bring them into the development journey and this eco-system, it will be possible to keep the languages alive in cyberspace.

You will ask us for APIs for the tools that we are currently working on. Start using these tools. The more users we have, the more problems will be identified, and as a result, the more development will take place, as well as the development speed will be higher, he said.

It was informed at the event that ‘Kagaz.AI’ will ensure the use of artificial intelligence in Bengali language-based writing, preparation of official documents, language processing and content creation, which is an important milestone in the digital advancement of the Bengali language. Such a complete AI platform has not been launched for the Bengali language before.

On the other hand, the new Bangla font ‘Julai’ has been developed for official and institutional use, which will help remove various limitations in computer-based Bangla writing, said the concerned people.

The program was presided over by the Secretary of the Information and Communication Technology Department, Sheesh Haider Chowdhury, and was attended by Bangla Academy Director General Professor Dr. Mohammad Azam, Additional Secretary of the Posts and Telecommunications Department, Zahirul Islam, along with officials from various government and private departments, technology experts and invited guests.

It is worth noting that the two services inaugurated have been developed through the ‘Enrichment of Bangla Language in Information Technology through Research and Development’ project implemented by the Bangladesh Computer Council under the Information and Communication Technology Department.
