Yao Wen, the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, paid a farewell call on the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Humayun Kabir. The meeting took place on Sunday (September 20, 2026) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, State Minister Humayun Kabir praised Ambassador Yao Wen’s role in strengthening Bangladesh-China relations. He remarked that Ambassador Yao Wen’s activities in Bangladesh were highly visible and that his contributions to the development of ties between the two nations were commendable.

The State Minister also lauded Ambassador Yao Wen’s contribution to the success of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s visit to China.
He noted that during Ambassador Yao Wen’s tenure, the relationship between Bangladesh and China was elevated to the level of a “shared community.” He further mentioned that several new institutional cooperation frameworks—including a “2+2” mechanism at the State Minister level—were in the process of being established.

Outgoing Ambassador Yao Wen stated that serving in Bangladesh for three years and nine months had been a great honor for him. He congratulated the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh on his election as the President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), describing it as a moment of pride for the country.
The Ambassador affirmed that China would continue to provide cooperation and support for Bangladesh’s development journey in the future.
He also informed that the Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) Central Committee was interested in visiting Bangladesh later this year. Noting the Minister’s special connection to Bangladesh, the Ambassador mentioned that the Minister’s father had served as China’s Ambassador to Bangladesh and had presented his credentials to the then-President Ziaur Rahman.
During the meeting, the State Minister expressed hope that the relationship between Bangladesh and China would deepen and expand further in the future. He thanked Ambassador Yao Wen for his contributions during his tenure in Bangladesh and wished him success in his future assignments.
The State Minister remarked that their paths would likely cross again in the future and noted that Ambassador Yao Wen’s tenure in Bangladesh would be remembered with fondness.
