BNP announces multi-pronged initiatives to restore confidence in investment

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced the formulation of a new legal framework to ensure stability in tax policy and investment protection to make the investment environment easier and more sustainable.

BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said this while attending the ‘Bangladesh Investment Summit-2025’ at Hotel Intercontinental on Wednesday (April 9, 2025).

“To protect the fair rights of investors, we will enact a law that will create an investment-friendly environment, bring consistency in the tax structure and ensure institutional guarantees,” he said.

BNP has proposed bringing all investment-related services under a central authority. In this process, a ‘Single Window Investment Authority’ will be formed that will promise to register companies within 48 hours and issue work permits within 7 days.

He further said, “Our goal is to build a ‘plug-and-play’ infrastructure so that investors can start business very quickly. All approvals and services will be provided digitally so that the process is transparent and dynamic.”

Stressing the need to build modern infrastructure in special economic zones, he said that all zone approval activities will be completed completely digitally.

Emphasizing on technology and human resource development, Amir Khasru said that BNP will establish training centers in collaboration with foreign investors.

“There will be a system of salary subsidy for organizations that hire local skilled professionals. This will increase local employment on one hand, and reduce dependence on foreign manpower on the other,” he said.
