BIMSTEC Secretary General Indra Mani Pandey held a meeting with Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), with the aim of fostering sustainable development and strengthening regional cooperation in the Bay of Bengal region.
The meeting took place on Wednesday (October 28, 2026) in Bangkok, Thailand. BIMSTEC Secretary General Indra Mani Pandey was in Bangkok to address the Fifth Ministerial Conference on Space Applications for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific.
During the meeting, discussions were held on ways to further strengthen the existing cooperation between BIMSTEC and UN ESCAP. Additionally, they exchanged views on expanding regional cooperation to accelerate sustainable development within the Bay of Bengal region.
The meeting served as a significant opportunity to discuss enhancing mutual cooperation between the two regional and international organizations, as well as advancing joint initiatives toward achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
