BGMEA president said in a written statement, “We have aimed to export 100 billion dollars from the garment industry by 2030.” We need the government’s policy support to achieve this goal. For this reason, we have recommended that in the next budget, tax at source against exports will be reduced from 1 percent to 0.50 percent as before, income tax deduction rate on cash assistance will be reduced from 10 percent to 5 percent, income tax on ERQ will be reduced from 20 percent to 10 percent, exemption of incentives till 2029.

The BGMEA president said that in the upcoming budget, it is reasonable to provide tax concessions on import of fire and safety equipment for the sake of exports and to allow import at subsidized rates for replacement of these products if they are damaged or destroyed. Special funds should be allocated for food rationing for workers and support for export and investment in non-cotton garments.

He also said that these facilities proposed for the garment industry of the country will play a big role in the economic development of the country in the current global context.
