Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurates ‘Patli Canal Re-excavation’ project in Cox’s Bazar

Desk Report:

As part of the current government’s election pledge to protect the environment and strengthen climate resilience, the ‘Patli Canal Re-excavation’ project was inaugurated today (June 13, 2026) at PMkhali in Cox’s Bazar Sadar as part of the ‘nationwide river-channel-canal and reservoir excavation and re-excavation’ program.

Tarique Rahman formally inaugurated the project as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony. Later, he planted a memorial tree on the bank of the canal.

Present during the canal excavation were Home Minister and Cox’s Bazar-1 MP Salahuddin Ahmed, Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, State Minister Farhad Hossain Azad, State Minister for Private Aviation and Tourism Rashiduzzaman Millat, State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs and Land Mir Md. Helal Uddin, State Minister for Jute and Textiles Shariful Alam, Cox’s Bazar-3 MP Lutfur Rahman Kajal and Chittagong-10 MP Saeed Al Noman.
