Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, terming the proposed budget of Tk 938,000 crore for the fiscal year 2026-27 as a ‘budget for everyone’, said that it is not for any political party, group or special class; rather, it has been formulated keeping in mind the needs, potential and goal of improving the standard of living of all the people of the country.
He said that the interests of people from every class and profession of society, including farmers, women, artists, theater workers, blacksmiths, weavers, small entrepreneurs, have been seriously considered in this budget. He also commented that no community is outside this budget.
He made these remarks at a post-budget press conference held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Friday (June 12, 2026) after presenting the budget in the National Parliament on Thursday (June 11, 2026).
The press conference was also attended by Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmud Tuku, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid and State Minister for Planning Md. Jonayed Abdur Rahim Saki.
In addition, Prime Minister’s Education, Primary and Mass Education Advisor Mahdi Amin, Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Advisor Rehan Asif Asad, Special Assistant on Investment and Capital Market Affairs Tanvir Ghani, Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister ABM Abdus Sattar and senior officials were present.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Mostaqur Rahman and National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Md. Abdur Rahman Khan and Finance Secretary Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Majumder was also present.
