The Indian High Commission has organized a business reception in Dhaka with the aim of further strengthening bilateral economic and trade cooperation and strengthening business ties between India and Bangladesh.
The event, organized on Tuesday (August 18, 2026), was attended by a visiting delegation of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and leading members of the Bangladesh business community. The event saw a meaningful exchange of views on expanding trade and investment between the two countries and new opportunities for mutual economic cooperation.


Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam addressed the event as the chief guest. He highlighted the importance of increasing economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking at the event, Indian High Commissioner Shri Dinesh Trivedi said that the role of the business sector is very important in the common aspirations of the youth of India and Bangladesh and the development goals of both countries. Business organizations need to play a more effective role in transforming these aspirations into real opportunities and building sustainable partnerships.

He said that strong business partnerships can play a significant role in further strengthening the long-standing friendly relations between India and Bangladesh.
In addition, CII Director General Shri Chandrajit Banerjee spoke at the event.
