A delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) of India paid a courtesy call on Minister of State for External Affairs Shama Obaid Islam. The meeting was held at the Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday (August 18).
During the meeting, the Indian business delegation discussed various possibilities of expanding trade and investment with Bangladesh. The delegation was attended by representatives of leading business organizations from various sectors of India.

The delegation included representatives of Bharat Biotech International Limited, The Infravision Foundation, Godrej Industries Group, Aravind Limited, Mahindra Group, Numaligarh Refinery Limited, Larsen & Toubro Limited, Godrej Consumer Products Limited, Forbes Marshall Pvt. Ltd., Beximco IOC Petroleum & Energy Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Apollo Hospitals.
These organizations operate in consumer products, automobiles, petroleum and energy, healthcare and other important sectors.
During the meeting, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam said that the new government is moving forward with a visionary and forward-looking approach in trade and investment. The Indian business community can explore these opportunities to further strengthen Bangladesh-India economic cooperation based on mutual interests and benefits.
He emphasized on taking the economic relations of the two countries to new heights through closer communication and partnership between the business communities of Bangladesh and India.
