A delegation led by Md. Saidul Haque, Founder and Executive Director of Blind Education and Rehabilitation Development Organization (BARDO), paid a courtesy call on Acting Speaker of Bangladesh National Parliament Barrister Kaiser Kamal MP on Wednesday (August 19, 2026).

Acting Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal MP said, “It is our duty to give equal dignity to every person and to be respectful towards people.” He said, “No one is born with a disability voluntarily. We should not see disabled people as obstacles. Giving dignity to people is one of the sacred responsibilities of members of parliament.”

During the meeting, the delegation exchanged views on providing proper protection to the disabled on a global scale, ensuring the right to education and ensuring the right to equality as a human being. At the same time, it was called for ensuring their proper legal protection and quality employment by representing the disabled in political parties and forming a parliamentary caucus.
It is worth noting that Bardo mainly works towards the education, rehabilitation and self-reliance of the visually impaired and other disabled people. Its founder and executive director Md. Saidul Haque has been awarded the country’s highest civilian honor, ‘Independence Award-2026’, for his unique contribution to establishing the rights, education and rehabilitation of the disabled in Bangladesh.
