Sonali Bank receives NBR’s ‘e-Return Champion’ certificate

Sonali Bank PLC has received the e-Return Champion certificate and honor for its significant contribution to tax payment and good governance as the institution that filed the highest income tax return online in the fiscal year 2024-25.

Sonali Bank PLC is the only bank among the five recognized institutions to achieve this unique honor.

On Thursday (September 18, 2025), at a hotel in the capital, at the “Bangladesh Single Window” program organized by the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Sonali Bank MD and CEO Mr. Md. Shawkat Ali Khan was presented with the e-Return Champion certificate and honor by the chief guest of the program, Financial Advisor Dr. Saleh Uddin Ahmed.

NBR Chairman Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan presided over the event, which was attended by Special Guests, Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin, Special Envoy to the Chief Advisor on International Affairs Mr. Lutfe Siddiqui and Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor Mr. Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury.

On this occasion, Sonali Bank MD & CEO Mr. Md. Shawkat Ali Khan said that after the NBR made online e-return filing mandatory for bank officials in October 2024, Sonali Bank took quick initiatives to involve all officers and employees in online return filing through online training, helpdesk, video tutorials and regular supervision.

He said that this achievement is a symbol of our commitment to digital transformation and the success of the motto “Good Governance Towards Progress”. Going forward, we are committed to providing better services to depositors, customers and stakeholders through “Unlocking New Horizons”.
