UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemns killing of Osman Hadi

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned the killing of Inqilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi. He called on the Bangladesh government to ensure accountability for the perpetrators of the incident through a prompt, impartial and transparent investigation in accordance with international human rights standards.

At a regular press briefing in New York on Friday (December 19, 2025), UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said that the UN Secretary-General has called on everyone in Bangladesh to exercise restraint ahead of the national parliamentary elections in February next year.

Guterres called on all parties to refrain from violence, de-escalate tensions and maintain a peaceful electoral environment.
