UK Trade Envoy to Bangladesh meets Trade Adviser

UK Trade Envoy to Bangladesh Baroness Rosie Winterton met Trade Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin.

The meeting was held in the Trade Adviser’s office at the Secretariat on Thursday (April 10, 2025) afternoon.

In the meeting, they discussed in detail the development of bilateral relations, trade and investment and cooperation.

The Trade Adviser said that the UK is one of the main destinations for Bangladesh’s export products. There is an opportunity to increase the trade volume of the two countries by removing trade barriers. He called on the UK Trade Envoy to connect the government as well as the private sector to increase bilateral trade.

UK Trade Envoy Baroness Rosie Winterton said the UK is supporting Bangladesh in various reforms, including ongoing economic reforms. She expressed her interest in assisting the Ministry of Commerce in trade negotiation capacity building and trade policy formulation as part of the cooperation.

UK High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cook and Secretary to the Ministry of Commerce Mahbubur Rahman were present at the meeting.
