UK expresses interest in enhancing the capacity of Bangladesh Police

UK High Commissioner Sarah Cooke paid a courtesy call on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir at the Police Headquarters on Wednesday (April 15, 2026).

In this cordial meeting, the UK High Commissioner congratulated the newly appointed IGP. He expressed interest in providing training to enhance the capacity of Bangladesh Police in matters related to organized international crime, irregular migration, human trafficking, money laundering, visa fraud and verification of fake documents. He also expressed interest in exchanging experiences in the reform process of Bangladesh Police.

IGP Md. Ali Hossain Fakir welcomed the UK’s interest in enhancing the capacity of Bangladesh Police. He informed the High Commissioner about the short, medium and long-term plans for police reform and sought the UK’s cooperation in this regard.

Senior officials of Bangladesh Police were present during the meeting.
