The new board of directors for the term 2026-2028, led by Mohammad Hanif, the newly elected president of the country’s leading trade organization of the tourism industry, Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), assumed responsibility today (28 June 2026) at a formal handover-takeover ceremony organized at the TOAB office.
At the ceremony, the outgoing board of directors, the recently former president Md. Rafeuzzaman, formally handed over the responsibilities to the newly elected president Mohammad Hanif and the members of the board of directors. Former and newly elected directors of TOAB, former directors, members and officials of the organization were present at the time.
After assuming responsibility, the newly elected president Mohammad Hanif expressed his thanks and gratitude to all members of TOAB, including the voters. He said that the new board of directors will work sincerely to develop the country’s tourism industry, project a positive image of Bangladesh’s tourism in the international arena, protect the interests of its members and make TOAB a more dynamic, modern and effective organization.
He also said that ensuring sustainable development of the country’s tourism sector, increasing policy support, expanding international cooperation and increasing the business capacity of TOAB members will be considered as one of the priorities of the new board of directors. He also mentioned that work will be done in coordination with the government, relevant institutions and stakeholders in the tourism sector to implement these goals.
On behalf of the outgoing board of directors, former president Md. Rafeuzzaman extended his greetings to the newly elected committee and said that the continuous development and progress of TOAB requires the collective cooperation of all members. He wished the new leadership success.
It is worth noting that the election of TOAB for the term 2026-2028 was held on June 16 at the auditorium of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation in Agargaon, the capital. Mohammad Hanif was elected as the president by direct vote of the general members. In addition, the first vice-president Syed Shafat Uddin Ahmed Tamal, vice-president (1) Md. Mainul Islam, vice-president (2) Ziaur Rahman Zakir, finance director Zahir Ahmed Helal, accounting director Md. Zahir Uddin, international affairs director Md. Firozul Islam, media and public relations director Md. Mizanur Rahman, trade and fairs director Md. Abul Baset Babu, legal affairs director Md. Rabiul Islam Robi, printing and publishing director Md. Abu Raihan Sarkar, training and research director Naimul Hasan, information technology director Mominul Islam Asif, culture and sports director Syed Md. Imtiaz, member and human welfare director A. B. M. Zakaria (Rajib), property and resources director Shakhwat Hossain were elected. In addition, Md. Mohi Uddin Selim, Tamim Ahmed and Md. Nurul Anwar were elected as directors and Md. Nasir Uddin Badal has been elected. The new board of directors officially began their activities through today’s swearing-in ceremony.
