Desk Report:
Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that the entire country will be brought under complete digitalization as soon as possible without wasting a single moment to reach banking and financial services at the doorsteps of the people, to make it easier for people to get services, increase transparency and save costs and time. Every citizen, including the general public, businessmen, farmers and workers of the country, must be involved in this inclusive development process.
He said all this while speaking as the chief guest at the “Innovation Showcase 2025-26” program organized by the Financial Institutions Department on Monday (July 6, 2026).

The Finance Minister said that the main goal of digital technology is to ensure ease of service and transparency. The budget we have prepared has included people from every level of the country – even ordinary craftsmen, artists and singers. There is no alternative to technology to make this inclusive movement successful. The government has taken a huge action plan to directly involve citizens in political, social and economic activities.

Stressing the importance of sharing global experiences in the technology sector, the Honorable Minister said that a high-level team of the government is currently stationed there to verify the technological excellence and model of Estonia, one of the world’s leading countries in the information technology sector. He directed that international best practices be used in the country’s financial sector without wasting a single moment.

Addressing the officials of banks and financial institutions present, the Minister said that while the excellent innovations displayed in the innovation showcase are commendable, further continuous improvement is needed to achieve the ultimate goal. He urged banks and insurance institutions to examine what percentage of their total customers are receiving these digital services. At the same time, the officials of each branch should be proactive in changing the old habits of customers and getting them used to online services and inform the customers about the benefits of digital services through attractive letters.
He further said that the coverage and outreach of digital services developed in all financial institutions, including banks, insurance and capital markets, should be increased. It should be ensured that people can easily avail services from home, in rickshaws or cars. The country’s real productivity will increase only by reducing the valuable time, travel expenses and harassment of the people.
The minister requested the press and media to convey the news of such arrangements to the people through the media. In this way, the common people will be aware of digital services and the country will move forward towards the desired goal quickly.
Senior officials of the Financial Institutions Department, representatives of Bangladesh Bank and top officials of various banks, insurance and financial institutions were present at the event, chaired by Najma Mobarek, Secretary of the Financial Institutions Department.
