Swedish Ambassador expresses interest in expanding trade with Bangladesh

Diplomatic Desk:

Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh Nicholas Wick held a separate meeting with Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir.

The meeting held at the Secretariat on Sunday (April 12, 2026) discussed strengthening bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Sweden.

The Commerce Minister said that relations between the two countries will be further strengthened if investment increases. He said that necessary steps have already been taken to remove non-tariff barriers with Sweden, which will help increase trade and investment in the future.

Swedish Ambassador Nicholas Wick expressed interest in expanding trade with Bangladesh and said that Sweden is a world leader in the telecom sector. He mentioned the potential for investment in Bangladesh’s telecommunications sector and expressed interest in working in this sector.

Additional Secretary (Export) of the Ministry of Commerce Md. Abdur Rahim Khan was present at the meeting.
