BNP National Standing Committee member and Prime Minister’s Advisor on Public Administration (Ministerial rank) Md. Ismail Zabiullah has commented that the government will be more efficient in using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and citizen services will be easier.
He said this in his speech as the president at the closing and certificate presentation ceremony of the 5-day training on “Strategic Use of AI Tools & Cyber Security for PMO Officials” jointly implemented by the Governance Innovation Unit (GIU) of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Strengthening Digital Government and Economy (EDGE) project under the initiative of the Information and Communication Technology Department today (Monday, August 24, 2026).
The Public Administration Advisor said that artificial intelligence is very important for us at present. Through this, the government will be able to make more efficient and faster decisions, administrative complexity will be reduced and citizen services will be improved. At the same time, it will increase the opportunities for creating skilled manpower, research and innovation to build a knowledge-based economy based on artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence will also play an important role in increasing productivity to survive in the global market. He said, our goal is not just to show the use of technology; rather, to make people’s lives easier through technology. We want to build a smart government system where citizens will receive services easily and quickly, decisions will be based on information and administration will be more effective, efficient and people-friendly.
The advisor said, after the agricultural revolution, industrial revolution and digital revolution in the progress of civilization, the revolution of artificial intelligence has now begun. In line with this change, new technologies must be adopted in addition to conventional methods in state management, citizen services and administrative activities. The proper use of artificial intelligence can make administration more efficient, faster, transparent and people-friendly. Artificial intelligence is now being used in data analysis, decision-making, increasing the speed of work, and improving the quality of services. Artificial intelligence is not a substitute for humans; rather, it is a powerful tool to enhance human capabilities and skills. Technology is never a substitute for human wisdom and leadership, but artificial intelligence will help in making intelligent decisions.
He also said that the real success of this training will depend on the practical application of the knowledge and skills acquired in the workplace. This knowledge will make laborious government work and cyber risk management easier. He said that our goal is to build a smart, efficient and people-centric administration. Smart public administration will reduce the burden of regular and repetitive work and allow officials to focus on more important and creative work. As a result, administrative efficiency will increase and citizens will receive faster, easier and quality services.
Md. Ismail Zabiullah said that with the change in technology, some new challenges will also come. Therefore, we have to prepare people for this change. Due to the use of technology, some conventional or routine work patterns may change. At the same time, new types of skills will be required. For this, officials need to be trained in new skills. Especially, basic knowledge about artificial intelligence, digital skills and data analysis capabilities should be increased. He said, increasing human AI cooperation by utilizing human skills and artificial intelligence capabilities together will be one of the important goals of the future.
Information and Communication Technology Department Secretary Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan said, officials of all ministries will be brought under this training in phases. The government is also working regularly on cyber security along with artificial intelligence. A policy on artificial intelligence will be formulated very soon. He said, it is possible to significantly reduce the time and labor of office work through the effective use of AI tools. In this, officials will be able to complete necessary work in less time and spend the remaining time on more important tasks. For this purpose, the work of creating AI assistants is already underway.
At the end of the program, the advisor distributed certificates among various officials of the Prime Minister’s Office who participated in the training.
