AKM Mujahid Uddin, Senior Vice President Khandaker Saiful Islam and Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapal, head of the sponsoring organization Cute, were special guests at the event presided over by Deputy Commissioner Md. A. Mannan.

In his speech as the chief guest, the state minister said that to advance the country’s sports, the government is not limited to cricket or football, but is working tirelessly to develop all types of sports including surfing. We want to give equal importance to surfing.

He said that many players have already been brought under the salary structure and necessary assistance is also being provided to financially weak federations. He further assured that if surfers can perform well at the international level, initiatives will be taken to bring them under the salary structure in the future.

More than a hundred surfers are participating in three categories in this year’s competition. Those concerned hope that this event will make surfing more popular and competitive in the country as well as strengthen Bangladesh’s position in the international arena.

At the end of the program, the state minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Bangladesh Surfing Association building.
