On the occasion of the founding anniversary of the International Olympic Committee, Olympic Day-2026 was celebrated in the capital on Saturday (June 27, 2026) with a colorful event organized by the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) and with the overall support of the Bangladesh Army.

On this occasion, Bangladesh Olympic Association President and Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman, SBP, OSP, SGP, PSC, was present as the chief guest at the opening ceremony organized at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in the morning.
In his speech as the chief guest, the Army Chief emphasized on spreading the core values of the Olympics—Excellence, Friendship and Respect—to all levels of society. He urged everyone to develop a healthy, active and positive lifestyle through regular physical exercise and sports.

The theme of this year’s Olympic Day celebration was “You Can Do This, Let’s Move”. The rally organized with this theme in mind was to encourage people from all walks of life, including athletes, to become more involved in physical exercise and sports activities.
The central rally in the capital started at 7 am from the Bangladesh Army Stadium, passed through Airport Road, circled the Staff Road level crossing and ended at the Army Stadium. At the end of the rally, a fascinating sports exhibition was held and certificates were distributed among the participants.
Meanwhile, rallies and various sports programs were organized in seven other divisional cities of the country on the occasion of Olympic Day, along with Dhaka.
Organizers said that more than 1,500 participants, including national-level athletes, Olympians, coaches, sports organizers, officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Council, senior officials and representatives of various military and civilian organizations, students from various educational institutions, sports-loving common people, and media personnel, were present at the central rally in Dhaka.
