All disabled children in rural and urban areas will come to government healthcare, project finalized: State Minister for Health

Desk Report:

All disabled children in rural and urban areas will come to government healthcare, a special project has been formulated for this, said State Minister for Health Dr. MA Muhith. He said that healthcare for special children is going to the upazila level, and the Directorate General of Health Services has prepared and formulated a major project in this regard. The new national budget to be passed on June 30 has made specific and special financial allocation for the disabled population and disability assessment and reduction.

He said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the formal inauguration of the service activities of the ‘CSF Center’ in the capital’s Karail slum on Saturday (June 27, 2026) morning. The center has started its formal journey with the theme ‘Disability assessment, rehabilitation and inclusive healthcare to develop the potential of every child’.

The State Minister for Health said that ensuring human development and equal rights for every backward person in the society is the real progress, and the government is working to ensure equal rights for every disabled person in the country by bringing radical changes in its policy formulation, budget and management.

The State Minister for Health said, “We often understand development as having a lot of money or building big buildings. But real development of society will not happen with just buildings, nor will human development. If we want to develop as human beings, we must have compassion for the person in the society who has a slight difficulty or disability. Otherwise, only brick buildings will be developed, and the real transformation of society will not happen.”

Referring to the government as a very ‘humane government’, the State Minister said that the state is bringing permanent changes in its structure so that children born with various diseases and disorders do not get lost due to negligence and can integrate into the mainstream of society, get education, employment and lead a normal life. The new national budget to be passed on June 30 has made specific and special financial allocations for the disabled population and disability assessment and reduction.

Regarding the provision of healthcare to the disabled at the marginal level, he said that the Department of Health has already completed the preparation of an integrated project, the main goal of which is to ensure that every special child spread across cities, towns or remote villages comes directly under the government healthcare system. Through this project, special programs will be implemented in every upazila of the country.

At the same time, the Ministry of Education has taken long-term initiatives to ensure not only healthcare for disabled children, but also equal rights in the field of education. Arrangements are being made to provide advanced training to teachers so that children with special needs get the opportunity to study with equal dignity like all other normal children in general educational institutions at the district and upazila levels. In addition, specific measures are being taken to make the environment and infrastructure of those schools suitable for special children.

Regarding the disadvantaged children of the Karail slum, the State Minister said that the Prime Minister’s wife, Dr. The humanitarian initiative that Zobayda Rahman inaugurated in this Karail by visiting the ‘Child’s Paradise’ program will continue throughout the year. Specialist doctors from various leading medical centers and institutes of the country will regularly visit this CSF Center to provide medical services to marginalized children.

More speeches at the inauguration ceremony Director of the Directorate General of Health Services, Professor Dr. Jalal Uddin Muhammad Rumi, Chief Health Officer of Dhaka North City Corporation, Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury and General Secretary of the CSF Center, Abu Isa Mohammad Moin Uddin spoke.
