The Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) successfully organized a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) Promotion Roadshow and Press Meet in Ahmedabad, India. The event, held on May 25, further strengthened Sri Lanka’s efforts to showcase Sri Lanka as a top business and conference tourism destination in the Indian market.

The main objective of the initiative was to further strengthen the long-standing friendly relations between Sri Lanka and India and enhance mutual cooperation in the rapidly growing tourism and MICE sectors of the two countries, the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau said.
The roadshow focused on building a strong and sustainable brand presence for Sri Lanka in the Indian market, including Ahmedabad. The country’s diverse tourism experiences, unique attractions and continuous development of MICE infrastructure were highlighted during the event. Sri Lanka’s capacity to host business events, corporate travel, conferences and exhibitions was also showcased.

The event gave participants a detailed insight into Sri Lanka’s modern convention facilities, world-class services and various facilities available for business tourism.
This strategic campaign by the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau is part of the country’s efforts to further strengthen its engagement in the Indian market. India is currently one of Sri Lanka’s most important tourist source markets. As a result, the aim has been set to attract more Indian MICE tourists by developing relationships with industry partners and increasing awareness of the destination.
According to the information received, about 10 percent of the total tourists coming to Sri Lanka from India are currently involved in MICE and business tourism. Those concerned believe that this sector has the potential to grow significantly in the future.
