Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan emphasized on creating public awareness about environment conservation and strengthening research activities in this regard and said that research funds should be increased. He appealed to the rich people and industrialists of the society to come forward to form the research fund.
On Saturday (October 26, 2024), Professor of the Faculty of Business Studies. The Vice-Chancellor made this call while inaugurating the tree plantation program at Abdullah Farooq Multipurpose Hall. This tree plantation program is being conducted in the university area by the joint initiative of Dhaka University Banking and Insurance Department and Pubali Bank PLC.
Banking and Insurance Department Chairperson Prof. Dr. Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Hasina Sheikh presided over the event. Mamun Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies. Mahmud Osman Imam, Managing Director of Pubali Bank Plc Mohammad Ali, Director of Arboriculture Center Prof. Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin and Professor of Banking and Insurance Department. Md. Rafiqul Islam spoke as a special guest. Principals of various halls, deans of various faculties, teachers and students were present on the occasion.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan said that human life is closely related with the environment. As a result of environmental pollution, animals are suffering in many ways. Along with the development of the society, we have to be more conscious in saving the environment to save ourselves. In this regard, plantation programs and voluntary activities should be strengthened and investments should be increased. Industry-academia must work in unison using the specialized knowledge of educational and research institutions.
Speakers in the discussion meeting emphasized on banning foreign trees and planting indigenous trees. Apart from this, proper care and preservation of trees is also highlighted along with plantation. At the end of the event, the Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Business Studies. Niaz Ahmad Khan and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed planted one sapling each.
