UN FAO to help expand markets in Bangladesh’s agricultural sector

Minister for Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Livestock Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid paid a courtesy call on a delegation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in his office at the Secretariat on Monday (March 9, 2026). The delegation was led by FAO Representative in Bangladesh Dr. Xiaokun Xi, who handed over a message of greetings and congratulations to the minister on behalf of the organization’s Director-General.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the progress, sustainable management and development of the agricultural sector in Bangladesh’s agriculture, fisheries and livestock sectors. The minister highlighted various initiatives that are the priorities of the current government in the country’s agricultural sector. He said that any cooperation from FAO is welcome for strengthening the foundation of food security, agricultural product processing, exports and the agro-based economy.

Dr. Xiaokun Xi informed the minister about various activities implemented by FAO. He said the organization is working on expanding the market for agricultural products and commercial fish farming.
