REHAB Fair 2024: The Grand Event of the Housing Sector Begins

The highly anticipated REHAB Fair 2024, one of the largest events in Bangladesh’s housing sector, has officially begun. The inauguration took place on Monday at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in Agargaon, Dhaka. The event was inaugurated by the Chairman of RAJUK, Major General Dr. Md. Siddiqur Rahman Sarkar (Retd.). The five-day fair will run until December 27, featuring 220 stalls that include real estate companies as well as building material and financial institutions.

In his opening speech, the RAJUK Chairman announced plans to finalize amendments to the Detailed Area Plan (DAP) and related regulations within the next two weeks. He emphasized RAJUK’s ongoing efforts to make Dhaka more livable and stated that obtaining an occupancy certificate would be made easier in the future.

The Guest of Honor, Major General Habib Ullah, praised the organizers for hosting such a large-scale event and noted that it would strengthen public confidence in the housing sector.

REHAB President Md. Wahiduzzaman presided over the opening ceremony. He remarked, “REHAB is building a bridge between buyers and companies to fulfill the housing dreams of the people. With economic progress, there is a growing aspiration for owning modern apartments.”

REHAB Senior Vice President Liaquat Ali Bhuiyan highlighted the challenges faced by citizens in purchasing flats or plots without housing loans. He called for easier access to home loans to facilitate the creation of planned and modern living spaces.

REHAB Fair Committee Chairman Mohammad Akhtar Biswas pointed out the current challenges posed by the reduction in Floor Area Ratio (FAR) in the DAP. He noted that the housing sector contributes 15% to the national GDP and urged for policy support to safeguard the industry.

The fair is open to visitors daily from 10 AM to 9 PM. Tickets are priced at BDT 50 for single entry and BDT 100 for multiple entries, allowing attendees to visit up to five times during the fair. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to help the underprivileged.

Adding to the excitement, a raffle draw will be held every day, giving visitors the chance to win attractive prizes.

With high expectations from exhibitors and strong interest from visitors, REHAB Fair 2024 is expected to play a significant role in addressing the challenges faced by the housing sector and in fulfilling the housing aspirations of people across the country.
