Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahiruddin Swapan has said that information is the biggest power in the current era and if information management and public relations activities cannot be developed in a timely manner and in line with the digital reality, the state and society will lag behind. He said that if a skilled and modern digital manpower can be developed consisting of information cadres, public relations officers (PROs) and district information officers, the state’s public relations activities will be more effective and well-organized.

The minister said these things while speaking as the chief guest at a training workshop titled “Implementation of Election Manifesto and Action Plan” for public relations officers of various ministries and officials of the Directorate of Information at the conference room of the Directorate of Information in Dhaka on Sunday (May 24, 2026) morning. State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yaser Khan Chowdhury was present at the time.
The Information Minister said that effective inter-relationship and teamwork are very important for running institutional activities in a coordinated and parallel manner. He said, “If individual creativity, skills and capabilities can be integrated, the results increase geometrically.”
The Minister, referring to digital literacy as a basic capability, said that those who remain behind in digital knowledge will be virtually isolated in the future communication system. He said that the government is working on introducing timely curriculum and capacity development training for information cadres, public relations officers and district information officers.
He said that if the skills and capabilities of information officers increase, the Ministry of Information will be able to build a strong digital public relations network, which will create an effective bridge between the state’s policies, development activities and public opinion.
State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yaser Khan Chowdhury said that the positive use of artificial intelligence can play an important role in development and public welfare. He emphasized caution and ethics in dealing with the risk of spreading misinformation and disinformation using AI.
The State Minister called on public relations officers to work more coordinated and efficiently, citing the Ministry of Information as one of the main means of projecting the image of the government.
The event, chaired by Chief Information Officer Syed Abdal Ahmed, was attended by Additional Secretary Md. Yasin and Additional Secretary Md. Shah Alam of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, among others. Senior officials of the Directorate of Information were present at the event.
