Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has given a red carpet welcome and guard of honour to Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, who is in the country on a two-day official visit at the invitation of the Malaysian Prime Minister, was given a formal welcome at the Prime Minister’s Office ‘Perdana Putra’ building in the administrative capital Putrajaya on Monday (June 22, 2026) morning.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is accompanied by his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman on the visit. Upon reaching the ‘Perdana Putra’ building at around 9:15 am local time, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail warmly welcomed the Bangladeshi Prime Minister and his wife.
Later, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was given a formal welcome on a red carpet laid out in the premises of the ‘Perdana Putra’ building. The national anthems of Bangladesh and Malaysia were played at the event.
A well-equipped contingent of the Malaysian Armed Forces presented a guard of honour to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the event. The Prime Minister inspected the guard and received the salute. The national anthems of the two countries were played at the reception.
Then, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim introduced Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to his cabinet members and senior officials on the presentation line. In response, the Bangladeshi Prime Minister also introduced the members of his accompanying delegation to the Malaysian Prime Minister.
