The Ekushey Book Fair 2026 has begun, capturing the traditional culture of Bengalis, the spirit of the language movement and the tradition of knowledge pursuit. The main theme of this year’s book fair has been set as ‘Multidimensional Bangladesh’.

Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the book fair at 2 pm on Thursday (February 26). Present as the chief guest, he announced the formal inauguration of the book fair and presented the Bangla Academy Literary Award 2025 in recognition of his contribution to Bengali literature and culture.

At the beginning of the program, the message of communal harmony was conveyed through the recitation of the Holy Quran, Gita, Bible and Tripitaka. Then, after the national anthem, the immortal song of Amar Ekushey, Amar Bhaiyer Rokte Rangano Ekushey February, which created an atmosphere of deep respect for the language martyrs.

After the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister visited various stalls of the fair and exchanged greetings with the publishers. Later, the fair was opened to the public.

The fair will continue till March 15. The fair will be open from 2 pm to 9 pm every day (except holidays). No new entry will be allowed after 8:30 pm. However, the fair will run from 11 am to 9 pm on holidays.
