Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the ‘Farmer Card’ program on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the ‘Farmer Card’ program to provide direct assistance to the country’s farmers on the occasion of Bengali New Year-1433. This program has been started in 11 upazilas of 10 districts in the pre-pilot stage.

Today, Tuesday (April 14, 2026), the Prime Minister launched the program by pressing the button on the laptop at the inauguration ceremony organized at the Shaheed Maruf Stadium in Tangail. At that time, financial assistance of Tk 2,500 was directly transferred to the bank accounts of 22,067 farmers in 11 upazilas of the country including Tangail through mobile phones. 1,453 farmers and farmers in Tangail district are receiving this assistance.

At the ceremony, the Prime Minister personally distributed ‘Farmer Cards’ among 15 farmers. Earlier, she reached the venue at 11:20 am and greeted the farmers present. The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, Gita, Bible and Tripitaka.

The program organized by the Ministry of Agriculture was presided over by Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid. Prime Minister’s Adviser on Industrial Affairs Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Xiaokun Shi and Agriculture Secretary Rafiqul E Mohamed were present, among others.
