Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that all citizens of the country have equal rights, regardless of religion or caste. He said that it is the constitutional fundamental right of every citizen to lead a life according to their own religious beliefs and culture.
He said these things while exchanging greetings with dignitaries of traditional religions and distributing honors among priests and servants on the occasion of Shubh Janmashtami at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Thursday (September 3, 2026) morning.
The Prime Minister said that in the spirit of ‘To each his own religion, the state belongs to all’ and ‘To each his own religion, everyone has the right to security’—the security, religious freedom and mutual harmony of all citizens of the country must be ensured.
He said that since time immemorial in Bangladesh, people have been practicing their respective religions and cultures with mutual respect, harmony and harmony, regardless of party, opinion, religion or caste. He urged everyone to be vigilant so that no evil force can destroy this long-standing atmosphere of harmony.
The Prime Minister emphasized on further strengthening the bonds of communal harmony, tolerance, mutual respect and goodwill. At the same time, he reiterated the government’s commitment to ensure the security of every citizen of the country.
He said that maintaining an atmosphere of religious freedom and harmony is not only the responsibility of the government; people from all walks of life also have an important role to play in this regard. The Prime Minister called for unitedly resisting any attempt to create division.
At the event, the Prime Minister wished all citizens of Sanatan Dharma a Happy Janmashtami. At the same time, he also extended his greetings in advance on the occasion of the upcoming Durga Puja.
