A preparatory meeting was held on various issues including maintaining law and order, preventing sabotage and ticket black marketing to ensure smooth and comfortable rail travel for people heading home on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
The meeting was chaired by Md. Fahimul Islam, Secretary of the Ministry of Railways, and Sheikh Rabiul Alam, Minister of Road Transport and Bridges; Minister of Railways and Shipping, was present as the chief guest. State Ministers Habibur Rashid and Md. Rajib Ahsan were present as special guests. In addition, Bangladesh Railway Director General Md. Afzal Hossain and senior officials of the Ministry of Railways and Bangladesh Railway were present.
The meeting was held at the Rail Bhaban in the capital on Monday (March 2, 2026). In the meeting, the Road Transport and Bridges; Railways and Shipping Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam gave necessary instructions to the concerned.
In the meeting, it was decided to continue selling 25 percent additional seatless tickets on trains during the Eid journey as before. However, the minister instructed the concerned to ensure that no passenger with a seatless ticket gets the opportunity to travel in AC compartments or first class seats.
It was decided to operate the required number of mobile courts to identify ticketless passengers, prevent black marketing of tickets and prevent travel on the roof of trains. In addition, the concerned were instructed to take necessary measures to ensure that no ticketless passenger, especially at the platforms of Kamalapur and Dhaka Airport stations, can enter.
It was decided to increase the number of seats allocated for waiting passengers to sit in safe places on the platform in case of delay in the journey of a train.
