Nepal Embassy and Nepal Tourism Board jointly organized Nepal-Bangladesh Tourism Meet in Chittagong

A Nepal-Bangladesh Tourism Meet titled ‘Destination Nepal: From the Bay of Bengal to the Himalayas’ was held in Chittagong on Wednesday (June 18, 2025) evening. The event, jointly organized by the Embassy of Nepal and the Nepal Tourism Board, highlighted various aspects of strengthening tourism relations between the two countries.

Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari said, “Tourism and people-to-people ties are further strengthening the friendship between the two countries. We need a joint effort to build a real connection between the heights of the Himalayas and the depths of the Bay of Bengal.”

He highlighted Nepal’s current efforts to develop tourism infrastructure and appreciated the contribution of travel and tour operators in making Nepal a popular tourist destination.

Rohini Prasad Khanal, Acting Director, Tourism Marketing and Promotion Department, Nepal Tourism Board, gave a presentation on Nepal’s tourism potential at the event. She highlighted Bangladesh as one of the most important source markets for Nepal and emphasized on establishing more tourism connectivity.

Mountaineer Babar Ali, who successfully scaled Mount Everest in 2024 and recently Mount Annapurna, briefly shared his Nepal travel experience.

Leaders of the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) and Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) of Chittagong region delivered speeches and highlighted the strong tourism cooperation and growing business relations between the two countries.

Nepali students studying in Chittagong performed Nepali folk songs at the event, which opened up the guests’ minds about Nepali culture.

The highlight of the event was the raffle draw, where the winners were awarded Dhaka-Kathmandu round trip air tickets and travel packages sponsored by Himalayan Airlines, Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Nepali tour agencies.

Before the formalities began, discussions were held between tour operators of Nepal and Bangladesh to enhance mutual business relations through a B2B session.

The delegation from Nepal consisted of officials from the Tourism Board and representatives from 13 travel agencies. A total of more than 120 participants from ATAB, TOAB, hotels, airlines and other tourism and hospitality sectors in the Chittagong region attended the event.
